Building Faith for Bible Pathway is part guide book, part devotional book that helps you read straight through the entire Bible in one year. It helped me read the Bible and increase my faith. I was given the opportunity to bring it back to print and it’s now available for purchase at Amazon and other book stores. You may also see the sidebar on my website. Here is an excerpt from June 3rd, when we are in the Old Testament. A reader would begin with the segment guide below and then read the Scripture chapters listed – in this case it is Ezra chapters 6 and 7.
Verse for Today: “And this house was finished on the third day of the month Adar” (Ezra 6:15).
The building of the temple had been at a standstill for fourteen years, but once God’s Word and authority were recognized, the people “began to build the house of God ” (Ezra 5:2). What caused this revival? Their circumstances had not changed—there was still the same intense opposition and determination by the enemy to cause the work to cease. This time they were strengthened by the power of God’s Word and the enemy “could not cause them to cease” (compare 4:4-5, 23; 5:3-5).
The key to their overcoming the opposition and gaining power to complete the temple is clearly stated: “They prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah” (6:14).
God’s work can only be sustained and accomplished through the power of His Word and Spirit—neither of which the power of Satan can overcome. God’s Word is the source of strength by which God’s children cannot be defeated. It is the source and foundation for each of us and our lives.
When we make little or no spiritual progress year after year, it is most likely because we have neglected either reading, pondering on, or following God’s Word.
“Desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:2).
Thought for Today: Hungering for and following God’s Word are characteristics of a life of faith.
Christ Revealed: Through the Feast of Unleavened Bread (Ezra 6:22). Jesus said, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35).
